Confidentiality

Trust is an important aspect of the therapeutic relationship. Your confidentiality is my utmost concern for maintaining this trust. However, there are times when I am legally and ethically required to break confidentiality.

Below are situations in which I am required to release information to a necessary entity:

If I feel you may be a danger to yourself or to another identified person or persons

If I learn of suspected neglect or abuse of any child under the age of 18

If I learn of suspected neglect or abuse of any dependent/elder adult

If I learn that a health professional has sexually abused a client

If I receive an order by a judge

In such circumstances I only disclose the least amount of information necessary to meet my legal and ethical guidelines. If this occurs, and if it is safe for me to do so, I will inform you of any breaches of your confidentiality as soon as possible. Please note that every artwork produced in session are confidential as well, and will be kept safe during the whole process.

CLIENT / ART THERAPIST RELATIONSHIP

The client is the artist, author and expert of their own life. It is their right to identify and define their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing on their own terms. Through my services, I am committed to honour this philosophy by maintaining a safe(r) space that fosters your creative process and authentic expression.

Art therapy is a creative and transformative process. Although I cannot guarantee that you will see improvement in your life a result of our work together, one of my goals is to support you through this process of change. The therapeutic journey isn’t linear, there may be times where you experience increase stress and/or uncertainty. It is important you discuss with me any concerns or trepidation about these things if they arise. If our work together is not the best fit for you, I will provide you with appropriate referrals and ressources. At all times, it is possible to withdraw your consent and terminate the therapeutic relationship.

My Role as an Art Therapist

My scope of practice is limited to therapeutic services and I am not a medical professional. My priority is to ensure you receive the appropriate services and this means I may need to refer you to adjunctive or other services if I feel they may be necessary and they are outside my scope of practice.

• to maintain a comfortable studio space (virtually and/or in-person)

• to support your personal journey and healing process

• to act as a witness to Client’s healing journey and life story

• to offer arts-based choices and guidance when needed when using art materials

• when appropriate, enter a creative dialogue and make art together

• refer the client to additional outside support if it is appropriate

• to provide confidentiality to the client

ETHICS committee

As an art therapist, and mindfulness facilitator, I follow the ethical guidelines established by the Association of Canadian Art Therapists (CATA). Should you believe that I have been acting unethically, you may file a complaint to my professional body.

I am a also member of the following association and abide to their ethical guidelines :

  • Canadian Association for Transgender Health (CPATH)

Supervision

Supervision is a part of any therapist work and professional development. When necessary, I consult with other professionals about my work to ensure that I offer the best possible support. During these discussions, I make sure to disclose as little information as possible in order to protect client’s privacy. If I think there is a case where the consultation may require more information and may be useful for our work together, I will tell you how to proceed beforehand.

AppoinTments & CANCELLATION policy

Every session begins and ends at the time agreed upon. To facilitate the process, we keep the same time slot for every appointment.

Late cancellation & missed appointments

Any cancellation must be made no later than 2 business days before the time of the appointment or the entire session will be billed. Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in my schedue that could have benefited to another client. Two missed appointments without a notice might result in termination of the services

Rate & fee raise

As part of the yearly review of my business, fees may be increasing annually up to 10%. You will be formally informed of such changes when the time comes.

Payment

All payments are processed through Stripe. All credit card are accepted. If you don’t have access to this payment modality, let me know and we will find another solution. Please note that unless agreed otherwise, a card is kept on file in case of late cancellation or no-show.
